About AstroOcean Worlds Analytics
Welcome to My Data Analytics Journey
Hi, I’m the founder of AstroOcean Worlds Analytics (AOWA), and I’m on a mission to bridge the gap between Earth science research and space exploration through data analytics.
My Background
After a career in Electronics, IT and Program Management, I’m making a strategic pivot into data science with a unique focus: developing data analysis skills to support research in remote sensing, GIS, geology, and oceanography as they apply to exoplanet research and space exploration missions.
Why This Combination? The same principles that govern Earth’s oceans, geological processes, and atmospheric dynamics apply to distant worlds. By developing strong data analysis skills and applying them to terrestrial datasets, I can contribute to our understanding of what makes planets habitable – whether that’s Europa’s subsurface ocean or a potentially habitable exoplanet 40 light-years away.
My Vision
In an era where we’ve discovered over 6,000 exoplanets, the next frontier isn’t just finding new worlds – it’s understanding them. AOWA represents my commitment to developing data analysis capabilities that can bridge:
- Data Analysis Tools → Scientific Research Support
- Earth Ocean Datasets → Alien Ocean Modeling Support
- Geological Data Analysis → Planetary Habitability Research
- Remote Sensing Data → Exoplanet Characterization Support
The Expanse Connection
Like the characters in The Expanse, I believe we’re on the cusp of becoming a truly spacefaring civilization. Every data analysis skill I develop and apply to Earth’s systems brings us closer to understanding alien worlds and planning humanity’s expansion beyond our home planet.
Current Learning Path
Skills in Development:
- Excel & Advanced Spreadsheet Analysis
- Python Programming for Scientific Computing
- Statistical Analysis & Data Modeling
- R Programming for Research Applications
- GIS & Spatial Data Analysis
- Machine Learning for Astronomical Data
Project Goals:
- Apply data analysis techniques to exoplanet habitability research using Earth analogs
- Support ocean dynamics modeling that could inform Europa mission planning
- Create comparative data visualizations of Earth vs. exoplanet systems
- Develop analytical skills for subsurface ocean detection research
Professional Aspiration
My ultimate goal is to establish AOWA as a freelance consulting company that provides data analysis support for studies both here on Earth and in support of exoplanet research – developing expertise in analyzing datasets from remote sensing, GIS, geology, and oceanography to help researchers understand worlds both familiar and alien.
